A charter bus parked outside Sacred Heart Cathedral isn’t an everyday sight, but on June 27, it carried more than two dozen well-wishers from Geneva, Waterloo and Seneca Falls who came to celebrate the priestly ordination of Father David Cataline.

Shortsville vocations gathering includes prayer, picnic

Diocese of Rochester seminarians, priests and laity gathered for the ninth-annual Seminarians/Vocations Mass and Picnic on Aug. 4, the feast day of St. John Vianney, patron saint of parish priests. Father James Muscatella celebrated Mass at Shortsville’s St. Dominic Church, which is part of St. Peter Parish. Mass was followed by a pulled pork dinner, ice cream truck and lawn games.
Wayne County’s Father George Bastedo is ordained a priest

Priest discusses vocational discernment, hope through Jesus

In a way, troubled teens helped lead Father James Muscatella to his vocation as a priest.
God worked through these teens to show Father Muscatella the different ways hope can look and his own heart’s desire to bring people closer to Christ, he said during a Feb. 11 talk at Sts. Mary and Martha Parish’s Nacca Hall.

Mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral on the morning of May 25 started out with George Bastedo IV sitting alongside his family.
An hour later, the 30-year-old not only took up a new position in the cathedral — moving to the deacon’s chair near Bishop Salvatore R. Matano’s cathedra — but also assumed a new title.
Priests’ interests help them build bridges with parishioners

In his spare time, Father Edison Tayag enjoys scaling mountains, hiking and traveling.
And Father Steven Lape spent several years spinning the oldies as a disc jockey at a commercial radio station.
